Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has actively managed its Express Entry system, issuing invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residency to qualified candidates. In the latest draw, which marks the third of the month, IRCC issued 2,095 ITAs in a general category, requiring a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 529.

Earlier in April, two other draws were conducted. The first draw, held on April 10, was also a general draw and invited 1,280 candidates, demanding a minimum CRS score of 549—the highest for any draw in 2024. The subsequent draw on April 11 focused on candidates in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields, inviting a substantial number of 4,500 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 491.

Throughout 2024, various targeted draws have been implemented, addressing specific categories such as French language proficiency, healthcare, agriculture, and transportation occupations. These category-based selections, introduced in May 2023, are intended to focus on candidates with in-demand skills and attributes, enhancing the effectiveness of the immigration system.

Express Entry remains a primary application management system for three major economic immigration programs in Canada: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program. Candidates are evaluated based on factors like age, language ability, education, and work experience, receiving a CRS score that determines their likelihood of receiving an ITA for permanent residence.
