Mississauga Man Charged After Homemade Explosive Incident

A Mississauga man faces charges from the Ontario Provincial Police following an incident involving a homemade explosive device north of Minden.

According to the OPP, officers responded to a home in Algonquin Highlands after reports of a serious injury caused by explosive material. On May 24th, just after 5 p.m., emergency services were called to a residence on Comak Crescent, where an individual had been injured by a homemade explosive device. The victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital.

As the investigation unfolded, neighbors were evacuated, and the OPP explosive disposal unit intervened, recovering additional explosive substances and devices from the residence. Authorities have confirmed that there are no remaining explosive materials at the location that could pose a threat to public safety.

A 36-year-old man from Mississauga was arrested and charged with offenses including explosives-related charges and breach of recognizance. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the Haliburton Highlands OPP.
